A Venezuelan migrant working for Amazon has been charged after hitting a Florida mother who was pushing her 4-month-old baby in a stroller, leading to severe injuries for the mother and sending the baby into the street. The incident occurred in the Ives Estates area near Miami last Thursday.
The collision allegedly shows the mother being struck and dragged onto the front of the car driven by Sarahy Parra-Ovalles. After the crash, Parra-Ovalles stopped to adjust the stroller and place the baby back inside before fleeing the scene, leaving the mother bleeding and the baby in the middle of the street.
Family lawyer Judd Rosen described the injuries as “catastrophic,” noting that the mother sustained a severe brain injury, a broken skull, and a brain bleed. The mother was forced to express breastmilk from her ICU bed, which her husband delivered to the baby
Parra-Ovalles, 45, entered the United States on a tourist visa in 2019, which expired in 2021. She was granted Temporary Protected Status in 2021, which allowed her to apply for a work permit.
She was arrested on Friday and charged with leaving the scene of a crash with serious bodily injury and another charge related to the crash. She was later released on bond.
