A Chicago man has been charged after allegedly shooting and killing four passengers at random while they were sleeping on a train early Monday. Rhanni S. Davis, 30, faces four counts of first-degree murder, according to Fox Chicago.
The shootings occurred around 5:30 a.m. on a Chicago Transit Authority (CTA) Blue Line train. The train had just arrived at the Forest Park station when CTA workers alerted police. Three of the victims were pronounced dead at the scene, while the fourth was transported to Loyola University Medical Center, where he was also pronounced dead.
Two of the victims have been identified as Adrian Collins, 60, and Simeon Bihesi, 28. The identities of the other two victims, one male and one female, have not yet been released.
Davis reportedly fled the scene but was apprehended on the CTA’s Pink Line. Police recovered a firearm during his arrest.
“This heinous and egregious act of violence should never have occurred, nonetheless on a public transit train,” the CTA said in a statement.
Surveillance footage allegedly shows Davis walking through a train car and shooting three of the victims, who were seated separately. The fourth victim was in a different car, police said.
