Footage shows a woman in Brooklyn being strangled in her own apartment building by a man who had followed her.
The incident occurred around 11:00 p.m. on Thursday when the 25-year-old woman entered her building in the Prospect-Lefferts Gardens neighborhood, close to Prospect Park. Surveillance footage shows a man sneaking up behind her, wrapping his arm around her neck, and attempting to strangle her.
Police released a clip of the man as he approached the woman. The footage captures the woman screaming for help and struggling against the attacker, who allegedly told her to “shut up” before letting go and fleeing the scene.
The woman, whose identity has not been disclosed, was physically unharmed and declined medical attention. The suspect remains at large, and the police are seeking information from the public that could lead to his arrest.
