The Philadelphia Police Department is seeking the public’s assistance in identifying two armed carjackers, including one who investigators believe might be as young as 10 years old. Police have released video footage of the suspects, who are accused of committing four carjackings at gunpoint in North Philadelphia between August 16 and August 22.
The first incident occurred just before 10 p.m. on August 16, when the suspects approached a man sitting outside his vehicle on Girard Avenue and stole his car, according to police.
On August 18, the suspects allegedly targeted another individual sitting in his vehicle on W. Cumberland Street around 2 a.m., taking his car at gunpoint.
In the third incident, which happened at approximately 4:45 a.m. on August 21 on W. Ontario Street, the suspects approached a parked vehicle, knocked on the window with a handgun, and stole the car. Police noted that the suspects were involved in a crash on Allegheny Avenue with the vehicle taken during the second incident before robbing the third victim.
On August 22, around 6 a.m., the suspects allegedly approached a 74-year-old woman walking to her vehicle, pushed her to the ground, and stole her keys and wallet. One of the suspects was reportedly armed with a semi-automatic handgun.
Police describe one suspect as a 17-year-old boy, approximately 5 feet 8 inches tall. The second suspect is described as a black male between 10 and 12 years old, standing around 4 feet 8 inches tall with puffy hair.
