A chaotic street brawl erupted outside a school in Puente Alto, Chile, where a student hit his own mother with a car before driving into the father of a classmate he had fought with earlier.
The brawl followed a previous fight between the two students inside the school on Thursday. After school authorities called the parents, the conflict escalated outside, with witnesses capturing the mayhem on video.
Several clips show the scene unfolding, with the mother of one student attacking the father of the classmate her son had fought earlier. Authorities reported that she stabbed the man during the brawl.
The video reveals the woman hitting the man multiple times with her right hand. Moments later, after they separated, her son, driving a white SUV, sped into her, knocking her to the ground.
The driver then targeted the father of his rival classmate, accelerating towards him as the brawl continued in the street.
In another clip, the student can be seen driving into the father a second time, exiting the vehicle, and kicking him.
Following the violent clash, five adults and two students were arrested. All seven are facing charges and are scheduled to appear before a judge on charges that include attempted homicide.
“Upon leaving the school, both families began to argue and attack each other, resulting in two people being stabbed, and two people being run over by a relative of one of the students, while at the same time causing various blows, threats, and damage to both families,” said Juan Cheuquiante, leading the investigation for the Metropolitan South Regional Prosecutor’s Office.
“The detainees will be charged with attempted homicide, injuries of varying severity, as well as damage and threats,” he added.
Punto Alto Mayor Germán Codina expressed his concerns over the parents’ and students’ behavior, saying on Chilevision Television, “There was apparently already violent behavior here some time ago, which was reported by the educational establishment, and I am concerned that no concrete measures have been taken.”
In response to the incident, local police have increased patrols around the school during morning and afternoon hours.
